Opal also offers the service to alter almost any suit, jacket, shirt or pair of trousers. Many unusually shaped people insist on their services to make suits look tailor made.
They believe the future of men's suit styles will include smoother greys and mid-tone royal blues, cut in slim fitting styles with one and two button jackets. they also see the flat front, straight cut trousers still playing a major role in formal wear.
Humble Beginnings
Opal Formal Wear was started approximately 30 years ago by a Greek Cypriot tailor who was inspired by suits. When traveling around Australia in the 70s, he instantly fell in love with the opal gemstone and went on to start a suit factory and subsequently, the chain of successful Opal menswear stores.
Today, the Opal legacy remains strong. In 2005, Opal won 'Fashions on the Field' at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival and has successfully won and been finalists in a variety of formalwear fashion parades and associated competitions.
